Integrating with the Skyward SMS 2.0 student information system

Overview

This article contains guidance on setting up a SIS integration using Skyward SMS 2.0's Skybuild feature.

Skyward OneRoster Export Instructions

1. In Skyward®, go to Student Management > Administration > SkyBuild > Exports
2. Select OneRoster® Export
3. Select Add to add a new template
4. Enter a Template Description (for example: “Aperture Education OneRoster”)
5. For Export Version, select OneRoster® v1.1
6. Under Export Options, configure these settings:
1. Include All Entities = ON
2. Allow multiple ‘Users.csv’ records = OFF
3. Include Guardians = OFF
4. Send File via FTP = ON
1. You will need to configure a new SFTP location using information from your Aperture Education Data Operations Team Member. More info on this can be found below.
5. Save File via UNC Path = OFF
7. Under Version Specific Options – v1.1, configure these settings:
1. Use GUIDS = OFF
2. Academic Sessions = Bulk
3. Categories = Do Not Export
4. Classes = Bulk
5. Courses = Bulk
6. Demographics = Bulk
7. Enrollments = Bulk
8. Line Items = Do Not Export
9. Orgs = Bulk
10. Results = Do Not Export
11. Users = Bulk
8. Save your export and click on either the Export or Print button.
9. Navigate to your Skyward Print Queue, where you should see the export processing.
10. Highlight the export and select Tasks or Scheduled Tasks on the right side.
11. Schedule your export to be delivered daily by 1:30 AM EST as the DESSA Import Service begins at 2 AM EST.

Once your files are configured and ready to be sent to the DESSA System through an SFTP connection, please reach out to the Data Operations team at [e-mail] to receive your SFTP credentials.

When reaching out, please provide your full name and school district. SFTP credentials are then delivered via a 1Password link that is unique to each user, authenticated by email verification, and valid for 30 days.
